Have a facility to archive deceased pets information
We believe this holds little long term value and simply deleting the pet should be good enough, please advise what value you think it hold?

It helps with customer relations in that you can refer to their dear departed pet when they come back in with a new dog. It demonstrates care and they are impressed with you remembering their beloved companion.
Additionally it helps with searching for the customer who will say the used to bring in "Fido" which if deleted you can not trace. You may be able to use the other search facility in the Alphabet range but this is time consuming and awkward. -

In this situation it would prob be a good idea just to add a note to customer notes section and then delete the pet.

We are groomers
It is not uncommon to have an owner of a deceased pet come back with a new pet 6 months, a year maybe more & frequently walk in with the comment,
"We used to come to you with our old dog".
They value the though that you remember their previous pet (even if we have had to jog our memories with a sneaky peek at our card system)
